This series is really good!
Trying to work things out with Nash—her maybe boyfriend—is hard enough for Kaylee Cavanaugh. She can’t just pretend nothing happened. But “complicated” doesn’t even begin to describe their relationship when his ex-girlfriend transfers to their school, determined to take Nash back.
See, Sabine isn’t just an ordinary girl. She’s a mara, the living personification of a nightmare. She can read people’s fears—and craft them into nightmares while her victims sleep. Feeding from human fear is how she survives.
And Sabine isn’t above scaring Kaylee and the entire school to death to get whatever—and whoever—she wants.
I had to wait a month for this! I was so annoyed, but finally when it was in my hands....I was so happy!
1) Characters
If you've read the previous books, you will notice that Kaylee is very fragile, yet strong willed. She can't trust her boyfriend, Nash Hudson, because of the incident in My Soul to Keep. I found Kaylee a very determined girl, but she was abit over reactive at times, which is perfectly understandable. We saw more of Tod Huson, Nash's Reaper brother, which was great! I must say, when I started reading the series, I didn't like Tod at all. But as the series progresses your heart just gradually gets pulled to him. I was totally obssessed with Nash in the first three books, but there was so many little things going wrong between him and Kaylee, making me like Tod for being the one who comforted Kaylee.
Nash....I feel a little bad for him. Tod is right.
"He needs you, but you don't need him."
"Your and Nash's relationship is like an innocent white blanket, which has a stain that won't wash out on it. The mistakes. They will leave scars in your relationship. But Nash and Sabine, their relationship was mucked up from the start. That's why they fit. They deserve each other."
- Not an exact quote.
Tod, he has been a great cushion for Kaylee to fall on, but in If I Die, could there be something more going on? I have no idea!
2) The plot
Weeeell, everything was progressing between Nash and Kaylee, but suddenly, Sabine, Nash's ex, turns up and ruins everything. I thought this was a nice twist. Extremely interesting, yet annoying at times. Sabine got in the way of everything. I found this QUITE fustrating. On top of all the deaths. Death here, death there, DEATH EVERYWHERE! I've finally got used to that in the Soul Screamers series! There's some pretttyyyy good action in this book. Pure adreneline rush!
I don't know what to think of the whole Nash situation, but I think my feelings will be....more certain, in If I Die.
My favourite quotes (I have LOADS):
“Whoever said it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved was full of crap.”
“I don't have you, and without you, it feels like what I do have doesn't matter.”
“Nice is good, but it's not enough. I want you back for real. I want to talk to you at lunch, instead of staring at you while you eat. I want to see the smile on your face and know I put it there. I want to hear your dad's voice get all low and pissed off, like it only does when I've stayed over too late.”
“I couldn't resist another grin. "So...is there a family discount?"
"Hell, no. Nash is paying full price. Plus tip.”
If I Die is releasing in the UK in February. I CAN'T WAIT! :D
