An Interview with Jill Hathaway!

Hey,

Have you heard of Jill Hathaway? No? She is releasing her upcoming debut Slide, in March!
SlideVee Bell is certain of one irrefutable truth—her sister’s friend Sophie didn’t kill herself. She was murdered.

Vee knows this because she was there. Everyone believes Vee is narcoleptic, but she doesn’t actually fall asleep during these episodes: When she passes out, she slides into somebody else’s mind and experiences the world through that person’s eyes. She’s slid into her sister as she cheated on a math test, into a teacher sneaking a drink before class. She learned the worst about a supposed “friend” when she slid into her during a school dance. But nothing could have prepared Vee for what happens one October night when she slides into the mind of someone holding a bloody knife, standing over Sophie’s slashed body.

Vee desperately wishes she could share her secret, but who would believe her? It sounds so crazy that she can’t bring herself to tell her best friend, Rollins, let alone the police. Even if she could confide in Rollins, he has been acting off lately, more distant, especially now that she’s been spending more time with Zane.

Enmeshed in a terrifying web of secrets, lies, and danger and with no one to turn to, Vee must find a way to unmask the killer before he or she strikes again.

What? I hear you say, you can't wait until March for Slide? Well, here's an interview to keep you sane. ;)

Where did the idea for Slide come from?
I thought it would be crazy if someone found themselves standing over a dead body with a knife but with no idea what happened. From that, the concept of sliding developed.

Is 'Vee Bell', the main character of Slide, anything like you?
Well, her voice is obviously very similar to mine. She's had a much harder life than I have, though, and her world view is a bit darker because of that.

What is your writing routine?
I go to the library or Panera to write. Beforehand, I psych myself up with music. I have playlists for each book or revision.

Will you be doing any signings?
I'll be participating in the Dark Days tour with Kimberly Derting in April. We'll be in Chicago, Dayton, and Boston. Not sure of the dates yet, but I'll post them on my website as soon as I know. I'll also be at the Romantic Times convention in Chicago in April.

Favourite snack while you write?
My writing fuel is Oreos and Diet Pepsi.

In 20 words tell everyone why they should read Slide.
Because you want to learn everyone's deepest, darkest secrets.

How did you celebrate when you found out that Slide would be published? My husband and I went out for steaks. The atmosphere was kind of spoiled, though, because my toddler kept throwing her food on the floor. :)

Do you have any other projects lined up?
Right now I'm working on SLIDE's sequel, which will be released in Spring 2013.

Cats or dogs?
Cats

Horror or Romance?
Horror

Do you prefer Slide's US cover or UK cover?
I love them both in different ways. The US cover is stunning, but I think the UK cover is more fun.

Describe your book in ten words.
She sees through the eyes of a killer.

  1. Thanks for the interview ladies, I enjoyed reading it. And though I am not a huge fan of YA, this sounds original and good. I'll be keeping my eyes open for this one.
