My review of Half-Blood

Half-Blood (Covenant #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Release Date: September 20, 2011
Goodreads | Amazon UK | Amazon | The Book Depository

Half-Blood (Covenant, #1)The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures.

Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:

Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden.

Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden.

And that would kind of suck.

Half-Blood is the first book in the popular Covenant series. Fun, witty and full of action, a must read!

Are you looking for a book that will brighten up your day? A book that will keep you hooked until the end? A book that is just so damn hot it could set a forest on fire? Here it is, my fellow readers!

The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals. Children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods have godlike powers, while children of Hematoi and mortals, Half-bloods, only have two options: become a Sentinel who hunt and kill daimons or become a servant in the house of a pure.

Alex, after three years of missing training at the Covenant, would rather risk her life before she would ever be seen scrubbing toilets. But Alex has got a problem with one of the rules: Relationships between pures and half-bloods are forbidden. It doesn't help when your new trainer is the untouchable pure blood, Aiden. Alex has to keep her head straight and focus on her goal: become a Sentinel and get revenge on those who killed her mother.

Sounds amazing, right? That's because it is! Half-Blood is packed full of heart-stopping action and a romance that will keep readers entertained and hooked until the very end.

The characters were strong, feisty and unbearably hot. Alex is one of those heroines that you really admire. She is a devoted and determined girl who does not like to be missing the action. Throughout the book I was like: WOOO! YOU GO GIRL!

Aiden and Seth. Two hot guys, two very different personalities. Both of their relationships with Alex are complicated. Alex has a crush on Aiden, but he is a Pure so that is a big no-no. Then Seth comes along with his magical powers and good looks and a bucket load of secrets. There wasn't really a love triangle in Half-Blood, but I can sense one coming up in the next books!

Jennifer really does know what readers want. If your looking for action, a forbidden romance and many creepy monsters, pick up Half-Blood as soon as possible. I promise you won't regret it!

  20. This series have been on my TBR for a while now. I see a lot of people who love it, but I was/am scared to read it. I guess I have high expectations for it and don't want to be let down. But your review has given me the courage to start it. So thank you for sharing your thoughts on the first book.
