My review of Changing My Wardrobe

Changing My Wardrobe by Den Hanrahan

Changing My WardrobeLindsey, a high school freshman, views her new school as a place to start over. With the help of her friends, she hopes that a change in her wardrobe will prompt a change in her image. She has some success until her long-time nemesis, Avery, reminds Lindsey of her place. Without asking for help from the adults, the main character and her friends struggle to manage the bullying. Despite their efforts, tensions rise, and people get hurt. The ending of this book will leave the reader shocked and heartbroken.

Changing My Wardrobe is a cute contemporary novel that deals with the tough phases of growing up and gives you some great tips of how to handle bullies.

The book is very enjoyable, not something I would normally go for but nevertheless, a great read. Lindsey, the main character, tries very hard to stand up to bullies. She has her best friend, Teeny, to stand up for her most of the time but when life gets too hard for teeny, it begins to show. Things start to look up when Lindsey meets the gorgeous, Marco. She feels better when she's around him and not even thoughts of Avery, the school bully, could bring her down.

The story's not very easy to sum up with out giving something away. What I loved most about this book would probably the shocking twist at the end. I didn't expect it...I didn't particularly like it but it was a great twist. I even shed a few tears! This book will make you realise what bullies can really do to make your life hell.

Changing My Wardrobe is a perfect novel for young teens who want a realistic and exciting short read!

  1. What a neat way of trying to show bullying in school. And so many of us try to reinvent ourselves through our clothes. It's good to see bullying is being explored in books, to help those who have lived through it.

    The characters sound awesome!

    Thanks for the review:)

  5. This was a fabulous book, great for parents and adults alike. The ending was sad, and riveting, but the message held within the book is well worth the bit of sadness from the ending.
