What can I say? Julie Kagawa's books are just a sin to miss, especially this one.
In a future world, Vampires reign. Humans are blood cattle. And one girl will search for the key to save humanity.
Allison Sekemoto survives in the Fringe, the outermost circle of a vampire city. By day, she and her crew scavenge for food. By night, any one of them could be eaten.
Some days, all that drives Allie is her hatred of them. The vampires who keep humans as blood cattle. Until the night Allie herself is attacked—and given the ultimate choice. Die or become one of the monsters.
Faced with her own mortality, Allie becomes what she despises most. To survive, she must learn the rules of being immortal, including the most important: go long enough without human blood, and you will go mad.
Then Allie is forced to flee into the unknown, outside her city walls. There she joins a ragged band of humans who are seeking a legend—a possible cure to the disease that killed off most of humankind and created the rabids, the mindless creatures who threaten humans and vampires alike.
But it isn't easy to pass for human. Especially not around Zeke, who might see past the monster inside her. And Allie soon must decide what—and who—is worth dying for.

The Immortal Rules is a stunning take on vampires and paranormal creatures. Julie Kagawa has once again created an enticing and captivating world that everyone should experience and enjoy. This is a book that no YA lover should miss, it's crammed with action, romance, mysteries and everything you could want in a book!
The Immortal Rules is based around a girl. Yes, just an ordinary girl named Allie. Living in a world where there are no privileges, no second chance. Allie is forced to search day and night for food to keep her and her friend alive. That is hell. Allie would do anything to get out of there. But then she's given the chance....To get out of the place she calls home....To have abilities that many could only dream of....She has been given the chance to become a vampire.
I really loved this book! Julie never lets us down when it comes down to characters. Our main character, Allie, was just the heroine all books need. With sheer determination and amazing courage, this girl has it all! Allie is just such a unique and heart-stopping character that everyone will enjoy.
Obviously, in most YA books, we have....The Boy. Yes, The Boy. The one who the main character falls in love with, right? Let me confirm your suspicions, yes, there is The Boy in this book and his name is Zeke. And, obviously, he is hot and amazing, etc. But, he isn't your typical tough-guy you would find in YA books. He has a beautiful personality that readers will swoon over!
Allie goes on an exciting journey, a long journey. She doesn't know where she's heading but she knows that it will great. She faces creatures and dilemmas that will get your heart pumping like crazy! With her supernatural powers she can beat anyone in her way.....
Julie Kagawa could probably write a book called 'Trees' and make it a bestseller. I am not joking. This woman is amazing! I advise you read her other works; The Iron Fey series, because they are brilliant!

Thanks for the great review! :D
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree, most YA books most definitely do have THE boy! haha, or in some cases.. 2! Cassandra Clare's Infernal Devices with Jem and Will! :) I can't wait to read about Zeke, he sounds so cute :D
I agree with you, Julie could write the yellow pages and it would be amazing! ha :) I can't wait to see these 'creatures' Allie will be facing! :)
Awesome review! I've read some of Julia Kagawa's (I agree, she's an amazing writer) other books & was already planning on buying it or borrowing it from the library, but after reading your review, I'm looking forward to reading it even more!

I have yet to read anything by Julie Kagawa, but the Iron Fey series has been on my wishlist. However, Immortal Rules had grabbed my attention and I am so glad you enjoyed it. I can't wait to be able to get this off the wishlist. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI've seen many reviews about Immortal Rules and people seem to be divided into loving it or thinking it to be so-so only. From Julie, I've read only the Iron King and luved it. Since my pile of TBR is so big it is about to get the size of the Empire State Building LOL, I am reading more and more reviews in order to really decide what books to include in my TBR and, although your review is good and says that the book is awesome, I think I will finish reading the series I've already started reading before including new ones on the list =/
ReplyDeleteGreat review though ^^
I love Julie Kagawa and cannot wait to read this book. Thank you so much for your review.
ReplyDeleteGreat review. I'm grabbing this as fast as I can.
